You could achieve the same or better result mixing up the color on your own. I feel you there, but no matter how close the color is, it's not the same. All in all there are many reasons why you might want to use more than one range. Mixing and matching different ranges offers different options, such as a slightly different finish for some ranges, more compatible colours, different pigment coverage, etc. there was even a photo of the GW studio desk with Vallejo paints on it IIRC). It also offers the chance to migrate to a different paint range if you got started on one range but are getting fed up with it (for example the old screw top GW paints drove a lot of people away.
